The major shortage of air freight capacity will continue to exist in the coming years and will dominate prices. That is the opinion of Kuehne + Nagel’s highest air freight chief, Yngve Ruud.
He told the German DVZ that the strict policy in China against the corona pandemic continues to keep intercontinental passenger traffic between China and Europe low.
Recovery in that segment is therefore not expected in the foreseeable future, he adds. The same applies to air freight transport between the US and China. That too will mainly have to rely on the available capacity on cargo aircraft, and that space cannot be expanded quickly.
