Annual freight rate forecast

The rise in freight rates outpaced the expectations in the first 3 quarters of 2021 and so does the longevity of the supply chain disruption.

It is expected that the average global rates, which include both longer contractual rates and spot booking rates, will increase by roughly 125%. For 2022 it is believed that the strengthening contractual rates will more than offset a softer spot market, which should result in an overall increase of roughly 6 to 7 percent.

Average East West rates are expected to rise to roughly US$ 2.600,00 while global rates are expected to increase to US$ 2.200,00.
