After it sold two supertankers earlier this week, Euronav is now also reporting the sale of the Suezmax Cap Philippe. Built in 2006, this tanker has a deadweight of 158,920 tons. The sale will generate an accounting capital gain of USD 12.9 million for the shipping company.
The new owner, Ikara Lines, already took over the ship and renamed it Ikara. For Euronav, this transaction is part of a general fleet rejuvenation. With this, the tanker company wants to make its fleet compatible with the new environmental guidelines, which will come into effect from 2023.
